A frilly blouse, an outfit completed
Just finished this blouse. I'm very pleased with how it turned out. Especially the collar! I think I need to make a bolero with a collar like that now.
This is a polyester satin with a suede like back. The different texture works well in the bow, especially if your like me and have a hard time tying bows so the right sides are out!
A more detailed shot of the sheer striped ruffles and the taffeta underskirt from the under bust JSK with scalloped over skirt, I posted last.
Please ignore the cat fur, this fabric attracts it like nothing else.

Under bust JSK with scalloped overskirt
Another piece for the Stars of the Unicorn collection. This one is very different in comparison to the lilac taffeta skirt I showed before. The blouse and accessories for this under bust JSK are in purples, so it'll balance out.
The collection mixes a lot of different fabrics, as well as lighter purples with black. Once I get some full coordinate photo's up I think the concept will be a lot clearer.
The JSK is done in a slightly stretchy cotton sateen, with striped sheer ruffles. The attached underskirt is done in a textured taffeta. The different fabric textures aren't very obvious in this photo, due to the flash. This style of JSK tends to look awkward on a dress form, especially without a blouse.
Theres a detachable taffeta bow with star (it'll be made out of foam so not as flimsy as pictured) as well. I think I'm going to do a head bow with a star (or several) like this as well, but probably mix in the mauve satin from the blouse as well.

Stars of the Unicorn: The start
Just finished the first piece in the collection! It's made out of iridescent lilac taffeta (the flash picked up the blue tone more than the lilac), and seeing this fabric in an actual garment made me realize how perfect it is for the collection! A big thanks to my friend who suggested it!

Sakura-Con 2011
Ridi Kitty Design is proud to announce that we will be showing some of our 2011 Spring/Summer collection at the fourteenth annual Sakura-Con, April 22 to 24th in Seattle, Washington.
Our designs will be featured in the Lolita Fashion Show pannel, which will most likely run on Sunday April 24th. We will inform you of the exact day/time the pannel will be taking place, once the schedule is set.
Sakura-con is ranked among the top five largest anime conventions in North America and features guests from Japanese anime, manga, gaming, and music industry. We had a wonderful experience when we attended Sakura-Con 2010, and met many great people at the convention, as well as through our involvement in the Lolita Fashion Show. Unfortunately, We will not be attending the convention this year, but believe our collection will "speak for us", and create a magical respite of unicorns and stardust.
In late April or early May, Ridi Kitty will be showing 10 pieces from the 2011 Spring/Summer collection at another fashion show, this time a bit closer to home in Toronto, Ontario. The Fashion Jam is an exciting new fashion show that showcases cutting edge designs from up and coming designers. A more formal announcement will come later when the date and venue is established :)
Follow Ridi Kitty on Twitter or Facebook to hear more about these exciting events!

Sneak peak of 2011 Spring/Summer collection "Stars of the Unicorn"
Titled “Stars of the Unicorn”, the spring/summer 2011 collection from Ridi Kitty Design
reflects the almost tragic beauty of Unicorns, as well as a bit of stardust and magic.
Graceful and romantic, the Victorian inspired silhouette is
adorned with layers of ruffles in soft feminine colours.
With a focus on sheer fluttering fabrics, the use of glittering stars, crystal accents, and silver appliqués add a brilliant but not overwhelming sparkle that highlight the fabrics movement.
